A look back at baby jack- A new series!
I recently found some pictures on an old memory card. I was so surprised to find a bunch of old pictures of Jack. These are less then a year old but I can't believe how little Jack looks! Time is going by so fast!

Playing in the snow
We took a drive up to Mt. Hood last week to go play in the snow.
Snowball fight!
Lance and Jack were really excited about digging out a snow cave. Must be a guy thing.
Denali got into the act as well.
Jack loves to eat snow
Lance and I were pretty tired after the day in the snow so we let Jack drive home. He did a good job!
Next time we go we will leave denali at home so we can go sledding.

Toothpicks are magic!
Recently Jack has discovered toothpicks and how much better food is when it is on a stick. If we are eating something he is not too crazy about a toothpick makes all the difference.

The carwash!
When I was little I thought going through the car wash was so much fun. We just took jack for the first time. I couldn't get a shot of his face because he couldn't take his eyes off of the swirling brushes but he didn't really know what to think about it. Maybe in a few years.

First time at FM Playland
Now that Jack is two he is old enough to play in the Fred Meyer Play land. That means that Jack can go play while I do my shopping! Usually my time spent shopping is a steady stream of me saying
"Jackdonttouchthatpleasesitdownwearealmonstdonejacksitdownyeswewillgetyouabagelinjustaminute". While I thought it would be fun to shop by myself I was a little worried on how jack would take it but...
He LOVED it! He had so much fun that he refused to leave until we pulled him out of his fort. We will definitely be back. And as silly as it sounds it was pretty lonely shopping without my sidekick.

What a big boy!
Now that Jack is two years old we moved his car seat forward facing. He doesn't seem to care either way but I like being able to see his face!
It opens up a lot of photo ops too!

Play Clay!
Jack and I recently made play clay. It was fun and easy. The recipe I used was from First Art by Maryann Kohl and it made a huge batch! Here is the recipe
Finished! Time to play
Jack thinks its pretty funny to stick the play clay to his forehead.
- 5 cups Water
- 2 1/2 cups Salt – an entire container of Morton’s-style
- 3 Tbsp Cream of tartar — this can be bought in bulk at Whole Foods, or found in the spice section of big grocery stores
- Food Coloring: 1 tsp for pastel, 3 tbsp for vivid
- 10 Tbsp Oil — I use Canola, but any veggie oil should work
- 5 cups Flour
Combine the water, salt, cream of tartar and food coloring in a large saucepan on a low heat, and stir with a wooden spoon. As the mixture heats up, stir in the oil and then the flour.
Mix, until the dough comes away from the edges of the pan, starts looking dry, and it becomes difficult to move the spoon. Pinch a piece between two fingers…if it’s not sticky it’s done. Remove from heat. Cool until it can be handled.
Place on counter and knead 3-4 times. Store in an air tight container or large Ziplock bag.
This recipe makes a pretty soft dough but it is easy for little kids to manipulate and it will dry out a bit as it is played with. Like I said it made a huge batch so feel free to make a half batch. It does store for a long time and I like having backup so I don't feel bad tossing some when it gets too gunky.
A huge pot of green goo.
