Carving pumpkins

Jack was saying quack quack
A duck from oregon, not an U of O Duck grandpa we promise!
Jack waiting for the tricker treaters. He couldn't wait to pass out treats to the kids but got nervous and ran away when they came to the door!

Happy Halloween Everybody!

Downtown with Lacy and Mary

Last week Jack and I met Mary and her mom Lacy downtown. I wanted to take Lacy to one of my favorite food carts called DC Vegetarian. It was a beautiful but chilly day and we had a fun time.
I was apparently too busy eating my sandwich to take a picture but this is from last time we ate at DC Veg

 Jack liked his sandwich!
We took our sandwiches down to the waterfront to eat and we saw a gaggle of geese taking a break before heading south.
Mary loved the water and kept running across the path to see the geese!
Dessert! A chocolate peanut butter cup. So good!

Out to breakfast

(repeat post from vegging out)
Lance,Jack and I went out for breakfast today. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out so I was super excited. We decided to go cup and saucer on hawthorne. I had been there once before when I still ate meat and remember it being good.

Cornmeal spelt pancakes
For a restaurant on hawthorne I was expecting a lot of vegan options. They did have a long list of scrambles and vegan pancakes. I didn't feel like a scramble so I ordered the pancakes even though I wasn't quite sure about cornmeal-spelt blueberry pancakes. They were really good. Much more filling then regular pancakes. I made the mistake of ordering 2 but 1 was more then enough. I also ordered a side of vegan sausage and I know it has been awhile since I last ate a real sausage but it was good,it was "I made Lance taste it to make sure that it wasn't pork sausage good". Morningstar is the company that makes it.

Jack loved the pancakes and ate most of one of them.

Bonneville

Last week we went to Bonneville fish hatchery to see the fish or as jack says "efshs" He loves watching the fish and always has a great time when we go
 Feeding the fish

Can you see all the fish?

They also have a duck pond that jack really enjoys. Ducks might be jack's favorite animal right now

 A giant sturgeon!

Jack and one of his favorite people, Sunny. Jack calls her "E"

The biggest sturgeon they have is Herman. He is 10' long, 425 lbs and 60 years old! He was shy when we were there so we didn't get to see him.

Painting with Mary!

Lacy,Steve and Mary came over last week. Steve stayed with the kids (yes he is a very brave man) while Lacy and I went to go shopping at the asian market. When we got back we pulled out the supplies and let the kids do some painting

After painting on the canvas we took some time to paint the porch!

Jack was applauding Mary's first painting. I think he was impressed!

Life on the farm is kinda laid back...

Jack spent his first night away from home and mama when he went with lance for a father/son slumber party at our friends farm. He had a great time!

Jack found a scooter and had to try it out

Jack wanted to sit with the pigs while he ate his lunch. He even offered to share

Messy fun!

I have wanted a new picture in the living room for a long time. I remembered I had a old canvas and was wondering what I could do with it when i remembered we have a budding artist living in this house. Jack loves to color with his crayons and markers so I thought it would be fun to let jack create some art.We went to the craft store and bought some tempera paint and some brushes. By the time we got home jack was ready for a nap so I prepped the canvas by painting over the whole thing in red. Unfortunately It did not cover up the print on it but that is ok.

After the paint was dry, we but an old shirt on him, poured some paint into cups and let him go to town.

He had so much fun he made another picture.

OMSI!

This the second day of rain in portland. I think it is safe to say that fall is here. One of our favorite rainy date activities is to go to OMSI. We have a family membership so we try to go at least once a week. Today Jack and his dad went and invited our friends Marcus and Sloane for
play date.
Sloane and her dad. Marcus's haircut courtesy of Lance!

They had fun going up and down the elevator. Jack tried to grab onto daddy's leg but he grabbed Marcus instead. I guess we all look the same from the knee down!

Jack loves splashing around in the water table

At OMSI there is a blue ball room with small blue balls and tubes to shoot them around the room. Jack loves to play with the air vents.
